Growth Mindset in Action

With Next Step, my growth mindset… well, grew. ☺️
I’ve always been interested in personal development, productivity, and efficiency, but Next Step was where I truly applied those concepts. We didn’t just preach growth mindset in training sessions—we lived it.
I won’t go into the details of Carol Dweck’s research (you can Google her or, better yet, invite Next Step to train your team 😉), but I will share how I experienced growth mindset firsthand.
-
Effort Leads to Growth
I spent countless hours observing training programs—many of them unpaid. But that effort paid off. Not only did I learn different programs, but I also got to see a variety of training styles in action. -
Challenges Are Opportunities
One of my favorite moments was stepping on stage for a team-building activity in front of 300+ participants—something I never imagined I could do. But I did it. And I thrived. -
Mistakes and Feedback Are Part of the Process
I made plenty of mistakes, but I learned from them. One of my fondest memories of real-time feedback was when one of the partners casually ran behind me during an event to remind me to bring more energy. It was a small moment, but it shaped the way I approached public speaking. -
Focus on the Process, Not Just the Outcome
At Next Step, I learned that skills are built. You don’t have to be naturally great at something—you just need the right process, effort, and mindset to improve.
Next Step didn’t just teach me about growth mindset. They ingrained it in me.
