A few years ago, I wrote about my time consulting for Next Step Training and Consulting. Even now, I can confidently say that working with them was one of the best career decisions I ever made.

Technically, it was never a traditional job—I was a freelance consultant. But that was not how they treated me. When the pandemic hit, they went out of their way to help people earn when everything was shutting down. When I moved to Canada, they didn’t just let me go—they held a Zoom send-off to make sure I knew I was appreciated. And even now, from across the world, they continue to trust me, bringing me in to work on their web application project.

But beyond the work itself, the most valuable thing I took with me were the lessons, both professional and personal.
