There’s a saying from the Shogun TV series: ”every man has three hearts—one in his mouth, for the world to know; another in his chest, just for his friends; and a secret heart, buried deep where no one can find it.”
I wonder if part of the problem with social media today is that all three hearts are now out in the open. While transparency can be good, we’ve also seen how the darker thoughts from our secret hearts have gained strength in numbers, normalizing hate and bigotry.
